Cabinets and more cabinets!!!!

Poppa and Uncle Jerry had lots of help building the island.

Paul agrees with Bill and Jerry "Let's get this kitchen finished so we can have some good home cooking"!

Mommie's helper.

Sitting Down On The Job

Jerry and Wayne glued the baseboard in the loft with no problem. But downstairs has been a different story!! Laurie has struggled with this baseboard for 2 weekends and has about lost all patience with it........only one storage room left to go and we are done with that adventure!!!!

Taking A Break

Kyler felt Poppa needed a break after painting the fridge. "Here Poppa......have a bite of my ice cream sandwich". It is "yummy" THANK YOU Aunt Laurie for bringing us ice cream.

Getting closer to the bacon and eggs!

Do those girls REALLY want us to paint the refrigerator black to match the rest of the kitchen?

Where's our chair?

Papa's chair is ready and waiting for him to arrive for Thanksgiving weekend!

SLUMBER PARTY

We were able to spend the night in our lake house for the first time! I was very concerned about the late night calls of mother nature and the stairs so I went by and picked up a night light. We all decided that it needed to go at the foot of the stairs. We got into bed and Bill turned off the lights. It was quite dark so we all began to laugh and say well that light needs to go at the top of the stairs. So Bill so graciously went down stairs and brought it up and plugged it in upstairs. He turned off the lights again and we thought it needed to be moved again..........so after about 5 times and laughing and moving the light......we realized that we had not given enough time for our eyes to adjust.....and then we had to move our beds around to get the moon out of our eyes!!!!!

First Shower in the GIRLS bathroom!!!!

Where are the scrambled eggs and bacon?

Mother would never feed us Ding Dongs for breakfast. We gotta hurry and get finished so she can come to our rescue with "Real Food".

Much Fun and LOTS of work

You want us to do WHAT?

Once again all the hard work paid off! After much sweeping, mopping, mopping, mopping and trial and error our concrete is now stained.

Check out the baseboards, carpet, and the beginning of hiding the ugly beams.

WE PASSSSSSSSSSSSSSED

We had our final inspection today and passed. Much to our surprise, we also got our electricity turned on today!! Wayne had requested our final inspection and also called the utility company to go ahead and put in our work order. They told him that once we passed the final inspection it would take about 3 days. The electrical technicians saw the work order and were working in the area so they decided to drop by and see if our inspection had been completed. The inspector was there so they got his clearance and got the power on!!!!!!! The Lord has truly blessed us!
We still have a ways to go but can see the end in sight!!

Goodbye Porta Potty!!!!

Final Inspection Today

Wayne, Kyler, and I left early this morning to open up the cabin for the FINAL city inspector to come today. Hopefully, once we get our final inspection passed today, then it's ON WITH THE LIGHTS!

Kyler asks: "Where's the Bed?"

Upstairs carpeting gets installed yesterday. Floor trim to be installed this weekend, then it's up with the beds!

Going UP or Down?

Beautiful Sunset

We are all SOOOOOOOO ready to be able to watch the beautiful sunsets from the finished cabin. We are all getting tired and running low on time and energy. We know we will have lots of good times, but we are ready to just have fun and stop all this work!!!!!

Getting Closer every weekend!!!!

Ashton got in on the cleaning action today. We are glad she is tall, because she can reach places her mom and grandma can't.

Wanda cleaning on the stairs for the ????? time. They are going to be pretty when we quit messing them up. (Seth was looking on being his silly self.)
Paul getting the paint off the doors. He has also worked very hard on the ceiling and floors (many others have as well).
Jerry spent the day cleaning screens. We think we know now why most people don't put the screens on until the house is finished.
Seth and Laurie getting the green paint in all the crevices of the back porch. Jerry and Bill worked very hard on Saturday to build these to get us one step closer to being done. We hope this will pass for our inspection and then we hope to someday build a deck off the back, but we are kind of running short on funds at this point.

We are waiting on the plumber to get his part done and then we have 2 more inspections to pass. We are getting carpet layed upstairs tomorrow and hope the plumber will be done in a day or two. We have all the clean up ahead, staining, and putting up the above cabinets. We are planning on working hard over Thanksgiving break and then celebrating our Christmas in our new and beautiful cabin. :)

Well as you can see in the first photo, we are making progress. We now have lighting and the ceiling fans in and the scafalding is finally gone. Sheila can finally breath again.
We got the bathroom sinks and cabinets in and are waiting for the plumber to come in and finish hooking everything up. Also we put the kitchen cabinets in place. Notice the small amount of cabinet space in the kitchen. The girls say we don't need any because they are not going to cook. Paris says it is too easy to go with fast food. As Cathy would say LOL. I was out there today and the electrician is almost done and ready for his inspection.
Believe me it has been a lot of work, but we are getting to the end,
I hope.

Another Record Breaking Weekend

Once again we had a great weekend. We textured, painted, and landscaped all in one weekend. Jerry and Paul win the award as the best floor scrubbers! God has blessed us with a family that has been able to work together to complete this dream. He has blessed us with good weather and keeping us safe. We are getting close enough now to where we can see the end.......but know we still have a ways to go.

Uncle Michael's right hand men

Landscaping

Michael spent the weekend on the bobcat moving dirt. In order to pass our final inspection we have to make sure that all water drains away from the house and yard. Good job Michael!! It worked!! Abilene received rain this week and the water drained out of the drive and yard as planned.

Michael & Leslie Volunteer to Shovel-Thanks Guys!

Michael and Leslie will be arriving tomorrow for the weekend. They have graciously volunteered to spend the next three days shoveling dirt around the foundation. Would you like a cold Dr. Pepper with that shovel?

Ugliest Yard Ornament VS. Septic System?

Hester Cabin gets fined by the Fort Phantom Lake Association for the Ugliest Yard Ornament. Head Foreman Kyler had to go before the board and explain that it's actually our BRAND NEW SEPTIC SYSTEM. Help Wanted: Badly needed landscaping!!!

Beginners Luck!

Bill, Wayne, Jerry, Tricia, and Sheila worked hard today and completely textured ALL the walls in a record one day!

Setting Goals

Things have been moving at a slower pace.
Tricia has been staining and finishing the stairs.
The rest of us have been taping, sanding, sanding, sanding, taping, floating, sanding, floating, sanding, and did I mention sanding! Our goal is to texture and paint within the next couple of weeks.
We got pumped again over the weekend as we stepped back and looked at how far we have come! The lake is absolutely beautiful. As we drove up out there Saturday morning it was so still it looked like a piece of glass. It is up to the edge of the backyard.
We are ready to get finished so that we can begin to enjoy. We have been blessed to have a family that has turned this dream into reality. We have been blessed to have family and friends to support us thru this project.
